PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION IN ANGER MANAGEMENT

   Professional Certification in Anger Management The Way It Works

The certification training is open to those with a background in mental health, marriage and family therapy, psychologists,substance abuse counselors, domestic violence counselors, educational personnel, corrections, law enforcement, pastoralcounseling, human resources, and those that need or desire to work with angry and hostile clients. Students in these fields mayalso be accepted.

 

The training is available in the Rockville Centre Office in a class or Online. Please specify in your email which you would prefer.

 

Before a person is accepted into the certification course, they e mail their resume to jatwood@optonline.net. The MFT NY Team will evaluate the person's background and training and s/he will be notified of the status within a week of the e mail.

 

 

This psycho-educational course consists of twelve modules and taking these modules is all you will need to complete the course. There is a content quiz given after each module. Successful passing of the first module enables you to then receive the second module and so forth. You may take the module quiz more than once.
 

The information provided to you in this course will enable you to do the following:

 

 

  • Teach Other Professionals How To Work With Anger Management Clients.

  • Run Anger Management Groups

  • Teach Anger Management Classes

  • Work in the Courts With Mandated Clients.

 

At the completion of all twelve modules and the successful completion of the quizzes, you will receive your Certificate of Completion.

 

This Certificate is good for two years upon which time it will be renewed. The renewal fee is $100.  In order to renew your certificate a three page typewritten summary of your anger management activities will be emailed. Upon approval, you will receive a renewed Certificate.

 

No portion of the content information may be duplicated. The exercises may be xeroxed to give to clients.

The course will remain active for one year following registration. This is an intense training, providing you with all the latest state of the art research on anger management. The course is taught by experienced professionals with many years in the field.

   Module 1. Overview of the Course and Model Used

In this section there is an overview of objectives for the Certification course and the theoretical model on which the Program is based.

 

Module 2. All About Anger

 

This module provides the professional with anger definitions, along with workbook exercises that you can give to your trainees/clients so they learn about their anger.

 

Module 3. The Physiology of Anger and Stress

 

This section gives the professional information on the physiology of anger and stress, including many exercises you can give to your trainees/clients to help them reduce anger and stress.

 

Module 4. Session I Preceding Events

This section provides professionals with information on Core Beliefs and Triggering Events. It contains exercises that the professional will give to trainees/clients to assist them in noticing early warning cues to their anger.

 

Module 5. Session II Preceding Events

 

This section assists the professional in helping their trainees/clients in understanding their impulses. It contains a section on helping them understand how to control their impulses

 

Module 6. The Cycle of Violence and The Aggression Response

 

This section provides the professional with information on the cycle of violence   and the aggression response, how it is transmitted generationally and exercises to assist clients to gain control over their responses.

 

Module 7. Controlling Anger

 

This section provides the professional with information on helping clients control their anger. It provides them with exercises they can teach trainees/clients.

 

Module 8. Session I How To Communicate

 

Here professionals are taught how to apply cognitive anger management techniques to teaching people to control anger.

 

Module 9. Session II How To Communicate

 

This section provides more communication skills that professionals can teach their trainees//clients.

 

Module 10. Overview of Group Dynamics

 

This section provides the professional with information on the process of group formation, group dynamics, and group facilitation.

 

 

Module 11. Emotional Intelligence


 

Here basic theoretical definitions of EI are presented, along with self tests that professionals can utilize for their trainees/clients.

 

Module 12. Personal Inventory

 

This section is a review of the course and also presents specific exercises the professional can use with trainees/clients in personal inventories, closing ceremonies and graduation.
